Install and activate

Crucible Heightmap is the easiest way to generate natural custom Rust terrain. It runs on Windows 10 and 11. Installation is fast (per-user, no admin rights needed), and updates happen automatically inside the app with no re-downloads.

Download and install

1. Download the installer, CrucibleHeightmapSetup.exe, from the Crucible Heightmap sales page. The download link is at the footer of the sales page.
2. Run the installer. It automatically sets up the app folder and creates a desktop shortcut. Right-click the shortcut to pin it to your Start menu or taskbar for quick access. If you don’t see the pin option, click “Show more options” to find it.
3. On first launch, Crucible Heightmap shows a license activation dialog. Paste your license key (from your receipt email or the billing portal) and click Activate.

Windows SmartScreen warning

On first run, Windows may show a “Windows protected your PC” warning. This is Windows SmartScreen, Microsoft’s reputation-based security system that checks desktop apps against a database of known threats. New apps, even legitimate ones from small developers, trigger this warning until they build reputation through downloads and age.

Crucible Heightmap has been scanned with VirusTotal (clean across all antivirus engines) and submitted to Microsoft for their own analysis. The warning is simply Windows being cautious with an app it hasn’t seen many downloads of yet. Click More info, then Run anyway to proceed. As the app gains more users, SmartScreen will recognize it and the warning will disappear. You only see this warning once, on the first run.

License and subscription

• Pricing: $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year (annual saves 17%).
• Per-device limit: one license key activates on up to 2 PCs. If you have a desktop and a laptop, one subscription covers both.
• Switching machines: Deactivate the app on your old PC first (Settings > License > Deactivate) to free a slot, then activate on the new machine with the same key.
• Finding your key: your license key is in your receipt email from Lemon Squeezy, and also in your billing portal.
• Billing: Lemon Squeezy handles all charges, and payment info is secure (Drizzza never sees your card details). You can manage your subscription, change your plan, or cancel anytime in the Billing Portal.

Updates and maintenance

Updates to Crucible Heightmap happen automatically inside the app. When a new version is ready, you get a notification on launch asking if you want to update. You can also manually check for updates anytime in Settings (Settings > About > Check for Updates). Updates are downloaded and installed in the background with no restart hassle. Your projects are preserved through every update.
