The short version: the maps you make are yours, including for commercial use, and Creator is not a Facepunch product.

What you build in Creator belongs to you. Keep it, share it, sell it, run it on a server that charges for access. Creator claims no ownership and no license over the maps, prefabs or images you make with it.

Creator is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Facepunch Studios. Rust is a trademark of Facepunch Studios and is used here descriptively, to say what this editor is for.

Creator does not modify Rust, does not redistribute any of Facepunch’s files, and reads your installed copy of the game to render your map. It has no connection to the game client at runtime and is not a mod, a cheat or a client modification.

Creator ships with its end user license agreement as EULA.txt, beside the executable, and that file is the agreement you accept when you use the software. Read the copy that shipped with your build: it is the authoritative text, and this page will reproduce it here once the final wording is settled.

You accept the Crucible license agreement in the Crucible launcher before it opens Creator. You can read it any time in the launcher under Settings, License agreement, View. When the launcher has recorded that you accepted its current agreement, Creator does not show its own agreement window.

Creator includes third-party components under their own licenses (MIT, BSD 2-Clause, Apache 2.0, the SIL Open Font License and the Unity Companion License). Every one of them is listed with its full license text in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt, which ships beside the executable. Where a third-party license conflicts with Creator’s own agreement, the third-party license governs its own component.

Creator sends no telemetry. It makes no analytics call and collects no usage data. Each time it starts, it checks your Crucible license with the store that sells it. Beyond that, two things can send something, and each one waits for an action of yours: the relay once you pair one, and a documentation link once you click it. The support bundle you can build from the HELP menu is written to your own Desktop and uploaded nowhere: you make it, you read it, and you decide whether to send it. Your Windows user name and folder paths are replaced with placeholders inside it, and any key is replaced by its length, before anything is written. Your data is the full account of what is stored, what leaves your PC and how to delete all of it. See also Report a bug.
