Console, RCON, and admin tools
Crucible Local Server is where you drive a running server. It gives you a streamed console, a two-way web-RCON command line with quick actions and saved macros, a Test tab full of live admin actions, and one-click admin setup. Everything here works while the server is up.
The live console
Section titled “The live console”When a server is running, the Console tab streams its output live, the same view you would get from the dedicated server window. It also includes:
- A command input to send commands to the server.
- Up and down arrow history, so you can recall and resend commands.
- Macro buttons you save yourself, for the commands you run all the time.
Web-RCON
Section titled “Web-RCON”Crucible Local Server connects to the server over web-RCON automatically when it starts, so the console is two-way with no manual setup. Alongside the command input sit quick actions for the commands you reach for most:
- save the server.
- list players.
- say a message to everyone.
- reload plugins.
The Test tab
Section titled “The Test tab”The Test tab is built for testing a server fast, with live admin actions:
- Players: see who is connected and kick, ban, or target them.
- Give items: a give-item palette that drops items into your inventory by shortname.
- Time and weather: set the time and the weather.
- Events: trigger an airdrop, a patrol helicopter, a cargo ship, a cargo heli, or a Bradley APC.
- AI toggles: turn AI on or off.
Keep an RCON password set
Section titled “Keep an RCON password set”Web-RCON, the Test tab, and the live Overview stats all run over RCON, and RCON only turns on when the server has an RCON password set. Clear the password in Config and the server starts with RCON disabled: the console goes one-way, and the Test tab and live stats stop working. Crucible Local Server fills a password in for you, so leave one set to keep the two-way console, the Test tab, and the live stats running.
Make yourself an admin
Section titled “Make yourself an admin”Rust’s in-game admin powers (the F1 console, god mode, noclip, spawning) need you to be a server owner. Crucible Local Server adds you to users.cfg as an ownerid:
- In the Quick view, press Make me admin.
- Or set admins in the Config tab.
Once you are an owner, join the server and use the F1 console for full admin control in game.
Connection and port forwarding
Section titled “Connection and port forwarding”The Overview tab carries a connection panel with your local, LAN, and public IP addresses, each with a copy button and a Join button that connects through Steam. It also offers UPnP auto-forward to open your port automatically where your router supports it. UPnP is best-effort: if it cannot forward the port, the app says so, so you can forward it yourself.
For the manual port-forwarding details and connecting friends, see test your map on a local Rust server.
